LIFE

Home Sweet Home?

“Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back everything is different” -C.S. Lewis

I cannot believe so much time has passed since my first post! I have been so caught up with readjusting to my new life that I’ve been feeling uninspired. One would think moving back home would be an easy adjustment but trust me, I’m experiencing more culture shock now than when I moved Need New York. Don’t get me wrong, I have no regrets about moving back, but for a country and people who are trying to become so modern and Americanized…..let’s just say it’s like taking one step forward but ten steps back. All in all though, Jamaica is not going too badly at all.

Every day I experience something that reminds me that life is ever-changing, we make our plans and more than half the time life decides to throw us a curve ball. Even with these curve balls tho, there’s always something to be thankful for. Blessings come in so many forms even if it’s not what or how we desired it to be. The older I get, the more I learn to accept that nothing is set in stone and in some situations we just have to let the universe do its thing while you do your part.

Instead of focusing on all the things that are going wrong in your life, think about all the good things. We tend to get so caught up on not achieving the big goals that we forget to celebrate our small achievements. You may not be able to buy a car, or a house right now but maybe you were able to save a little more than usual this week/month; that my friends, is something to celebrate. I’m sure if some of us look back on the past year, we’ll say to ourselves “I can’t believe I survived this”, but you did and you’re here, so give yourself some credit and stop being so hard on yourself! The world is hard enough on us already.

Nicely written! Keep doing you in a positive fashion while all else is evolving so when you stop to look at your progress you will clearly see your impact.

That was very well said…we often focus on what’s going wrong in our lives and totally forget to give thanks for the big and small mercies. Am guilty as well but am a work in progress. Trying to appreciate the small things as well. God bless and continue to be positive.
