Edmonton Corn Maze
“Sometimes you just need an adventure to cleanse the bitter taste of life from your soul” – Unknown
When I was doing my research on which province to settle, I looked at pictures, cost of living, salary etc. Honestly though, my decision was heavily based on the pictures, I like pretty things what can I say *shrugs*. Sometimes in life, our heart really wants to do something but there are so many naysayers, who I think most times are just intimidated by the vision and dreams of others. I made my choice without knowing anybody here, and yes, it was terrifying but I was not gonna change my mind. While things are FAR from perfect and I am a long way from being settled, I have absolutely no regrets.
One of the many fun activities I wanted to enjoy was the corn maze. I wanted to visit earlier while they were still green but didn’t get the chance to do so (the photo below is how it looked while still green). Visiting at the time we did however, did not make it any less fun. We went on a Saturday and let me tell you… it was packed! I hate crowds and I damn near had a panic attack. But I wasn’t alone so I survived.
Every year the maze is a different design, this year was a teddy bear. We started the maze not knowing what to expect as it was my first time doing something like this. Well, it was a fun challenge! We made it to all 5 “posts” where we had to solve riddles and answer questions to know if we should go left or right. After about 35 minutes we made it out and I must say, I felt a sense of accomplishment.
Living in place that offers so much nature-wise is PERFECT for me. I know for some people their hearts belong to the city and that’s awesome. It really is up to us to decide what is best for us mentally, and live our lives accordingly. When I lived in New York I had several anxiety attacks per week, and decided I couldn’t live like that for the rest of my life. Truth is, i’m still anxious and it’s still a struggle, however, now it’s as a result of me trying to figure out life as a single mom in a new country trying not to fail my child. But, when you feel relaxed just from taking a trip to the grocery store (other than that grocery bill, LAWD), what more could I really ask for?
I look forward to the many adventures to come once the dust settles, and life is more balanced…and of course I’ll be taking you guys with me (not that you had a say really). See ya soon!

Its amazing how everytime we experience something new it opens our eyes to the world and confirm that life is a truly wonderful gift, and that possibilities are endless.
