Birthday Thoughts

“You are never too old to set another goal, or to dream a new dream”- C.S. Lewis

Sooo, I turned 26 exactly a month ago, I am 4 years away from 30!! WHAT!! How did I get here so fast?! *que the dramatic flashback* The good old days at 16 when life was all about friends and our latest crushes. Now, most of us are parents, wives, husbands, working on our careers, businesses etc. When I look at my peers I feel incredibly proud of us, out here doing the damn thing in our own way, taking adulthood head on.

At 26, I thought my life would be well on track; married, house/apt, ideal job etc., but here I am, single, job hunting, and back in my parents house. So many of us have fallen victim to society’s timeline. We become so caught up with impressing everyone except ourselves, all because we don’t want to look like a failure to people who shouldn’t even matter, and who don’t really care. We’re so busy comparing our progress to others who we deem more successful, but what we fail to realize is that we are successful in someone else’s eyes. Although comparing our lives to others happens naturally, the phrase “comparison is the thief of joy” is accurate more often than not. Don’t feel bad if this applies to you, trust me, it happens to more people than you can imagine.

I think we fail to unlock our full potential at times, because we’re so busy trying to outdo or impress the next person. Listen, you set your own limitations, whatever your reason is, it’s all on you. Yes, there are certain circumstances that may delay, discourage or demotivate you. But YOU determine how long you will allow your circumstances to hold you back. Every disappointment leads you to a new opportunity, it may not always be what you want, but it’s leading you to where you need to be. Never be afraid of failure, if you try and you fail…try again, you’ll get it right eventually. When your time comes around you may not even have to break a sweat, because what’s meant for you will always find its way to you.

I recently watched a video about timing that I would like to share:(Everyone’s timing is different-Jay Shetti).

Nicely said. I felt overwhelmed at 25 felt like I had accomplished nothing despite my university degree and a stable job. But here I am today. Keep going, growing and glowing…. Blessings

The more you express yourself, the more you will find that being hard on ourselves is a common denominator among us. Even now, after having accomplished so much, I still feel like I haven’t done enough. I see it as a good thing though, those feelings are proof that you still have the drive…the tenacity…the desire to be the best YOU! Keep pushing yourself Sis, and remember if you’re comfortable, you’re not pushing hard enough! Think of your comfort zone as an undesirable neighborhood…Level🆙️

Yeeeesss and sometimes it’s our own ridiculous timelines! If only we’d see that we’re all just out here trying to figure it out and waiting for our time.
